A CV is simply a tool to help you secure an interview. It is your chance to make the right impression with a prospective employer and opens the door to an interview. Select Hospitality will advise you on CV content and layout, but here's a few initial pointers:

  • Presentation is vital. Use only one typeface, use upper and lower case letters, make sure your headings are consistent and keep to your margins
  • Start with your personal details followed by a brief summary of your strengths and qualities. Ideally this should be less than 50 words
  • Detail your career chronologically, starting with your present/most recent job
  • List your qualifications, education and training concisely
  • Give a brief description of each job only when it is relevant - include responsibilities and achievements
  • Don't over elaborate. Your CV should be a maximum of 2 pages in total
